Valentine's Day

People remember their loves, old and new on this day. Apart from remembered sweethearts, the main beneficiaries are greeting card makers, florists and chocolate manufacturers!

Not many, however, remember the guy who gave his head for the triumph of (other couples') love. A priest called Valentine was beheaded on this date for uniting people in matrimony against the wishes of the Roman Emperor in the third century AD.
