How Tall Can Kids Grow ?

Can skipping, grow-tall potions, or special stretch machines help children increase their height? Doctors are of the opinion that the height of the person is genetically determined. Malnutrition or deficiencies may hamper growth, but in normal people height cannot be increased significantly by tonics, exercise equipment or such artificial means.

Yes, taller people seem to have some pychological advantage. ( A US survey has found that in the last decade most shorter presidential candidates lost to their taller counterparts!). However, being short may be less painful! Orthopaedicians feel longer limbs can be more burdensome for the back!

Predict Your Child’s Height

There are many ways of predicting the maximum height your child will attain as he grows to be an adult. Some methods have a greater level of accuracy than others. Here is a simple formula that has over 90% accuracy:

For Boys: (Father’s Height + Mother’s Height + 5) / 2

For Girls: (Father’s Height + Mother’s Height - 5) / 2

Enter Details:
Father's Height(cm):
Mother's Height(cm):
Boy Girl
 Results:
Your Child's Expected Maximum Height (cm):

The formulae work best when the child does not suffer from malnutrition or handicaps.
