Pharmacokinetics Cefamandole attains high concentration in bile and is excreted in the urine as such . Indications Cephamandole is more effective against gram negative organisms including Enterobacter, Klebsiella and Proteus and less active against Gram positive organisms than first generation Cephalosporins . Routes of Administration and Dosage For bacterial infections: Injection dose: Adults: 500 milligrams (mg) to 2 grams every four to eight hours, injected IV or IM. Contra Indications Cefamandole is contraindicated in pregnancy, lactation and hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. Precautions Precautions are to be taken in Renal disease when the dose of the drug needs to be reduced and when diuretics are used concurrently. Interactions Probenecid may increase the blood level of Cefamandole. Concurrent use of diuretic with Cefamandole may increase the nephrotoxicity.
